Prog Rock ABC: The letter D

The show is already over, so I write this retrospectively.

Lancaster & Lumley special

Today we will listen to two albums by the musicians Jack Lancaster and Robin Lumley:
Peter and the Wolf (1975), a rock version of Sergej Prokofiev's piece of the same name, and Marscape (1976). I am playing it in honor of keyboardist Robin Lumley (17 January 1948 – 9 March 2023), who was also a member of the band Brand X.

Gentle Giant - Octopus (1972)

On today's programme is one of the progressive rock 'classics', which means one of the albums of the 70's you need to know if you are into progressive rock. It is a masterpiece by Gentle Giant: Octopus (1972). I am playing it in honor of Ray Shulman (8 December 1949 – 30 March 2023), who mostly played bass guitar and violin/viola, but also guitar, trumpet, recorder, keyboards, drums, percussion and vocals. Shulman and keyboardist-bandmate Kerry Minnear composed or co-wrote much of the music for Gentle Giant.
